Wedding Weekend

Wedding weekends are my favorite kind of weekends. Basically, I was wishing it was my wedding all over again. BUT, it was so fun to celebrate another family member's wedding and be able to sit back to enjoy it with everyone. David's sister, Jen, got married this weekend to Phe (Christopher) Brooks. It was a nonstop party and we had such a good time. Plus, they were just stunning. We are so happy for them!

First off, let me start with Thursday night when we went out to eat with David's family at Guru's. The boys were having a great time with the hair extensions, and it was hilarious.

My Father-in-law, Dana.
David.

Like father, like son. Disgusting, huh?

So here's the start of all the wedding festivities:

Friday, we went to Tucanos for lunch with the Drake side of the family. It was so fun (and so delicious). This was the "kids" table:
Stole the Instagram from David's cousin. Thanks Lindsay!

We then went through the temple that afternoon with Jen and Phe and it was amazing. I love the temple! After the session, there was a family dinner that night that Phe's parents threw. It was so delicious and beautiful. Here are the bride and groom giving their speeches/toasts

Again, stole this from David's cousin. Thanks Jessie!
Then it was finally the wedding day! They got married in the Salt Lake Temple and it was just amazing. The sealer that married us also sealed them, so it was such a special ceremony for us all. Salt Lake also looked gorgeous with a dusting of snow. Here we are in front of the temple:

Here they are after the temple ceremony!

And here they are with some snowy pictures

And the best photographer's assistant ever:

Then it was back to Orem for the reception. It was at a golf course named Sleepy Ridge, and it was stunning! I could not get over the draping on that chandelier.

And the cake table was beautiful as well.

 Great food...

...and great company.

It was an amazing wedding and reception! We had a blast and it was the perfect excuse to not study for finals...speaking of which, I should probably start studying. Congratulations Jen and Phe, we wish you guys all the best :)

6 Months

Yesterday was our 6-month mark since we've been married! It has seriously been the best 6 months of my life, and every day gets better. I didn't know it was possible, but I love this boy so much more than I did the day I married him. Love you, David!

A snapshot from Jen and Phe's wedding. More to come!

Also, I need to brag. David got accepted to four dental schools last week! He is amazing! We are so excited, but still have a big decision to make. Pray that we make the right one!

Thanksgiving

David and I are extremely lucky. Our moms were college roommates so our families are good friends. Last year when we were dating, we invited David's family to celebrate Thanksgiving with us at our condo in Colorado. It was such a blast that we decided to do it again this year! There were a ton of us and we had so much fun. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures but the camera guys at the top of the mountain are always available and ready with their cameras, which is perfect for me. So here are a few of the photos we took on the mountain

David, Me, Mom (Kelly), Aimee, Carrie and Andrew

Ryan, Jessica, Aimee, David, Me, Dad (Mark), Carrie and Andrew
Again on the ground:

Aimee, Jessie, David, Me, Jen, Phe, Kelly, Mark, Trevor and Garrett

Basically it was a party and there were so many friends and family with us! We are so Thankful for all of them and for the opportunity to go skiing. There are a thousand more things we are thankful for, but especially for all of David's dental school interviews at this time. Tomorrow is the first day they will be releasing any information about whether or not someone is accepted to any dental schools! We are so excited to hear! I am so proud of David and his accomplishments and cannot wait to see what the future brings. I love you, future dentist :)

Purple and Yellow

Apparently when you marry someone you are supposed to like the same teams. I am not much of a sports fan, but David is training me well. I am now supposedly a Laker's "fan". Our future brother-in-law, Phe, got tickets to a Jazz vs. Laker's game a little while ago and we were super excited to go! So we got out our Laker's gear and headed up to Salt Lake. It was a blast and we even had box seats!

So, I guess we approve of him. Haha just kidding we love him and they really are great together! Plus, their wedding is in 6 days so we cannot wait!

Let It Snow

We had our first snow of the season in November! (I know, I'm a few weeks late) I was so excited and Utah got a lot of snow in the storm! Unfortunately we haven't had any since and it's been about 50 degrees everyday. I want more! Well, it started on a Friday night while watching David's intramural football game. Luckily I had my large umbrella and it kept us a little dry.

After his game we came home and about 5 minutes later our power went out in our whole apartment complex. We decided to play games at our friends Yvonne and Spencer's house, so fortunately when we came home hours later it was back on!

There was about a foot of snow outside the next morning!

On Saturday morning we went to David's tackle football game. It was the championship game and unfortunately they lost. The snow made it very difficult to play in and everyone was slipping and falling all over the place! Oh well, maybe next season! Here's my cute husband in his manly pads:

And here we are with some of our good friends after the game. I absolutely love going to all David's games because it gives me an excuse to socialize and talk with the other wives. We have a blast (but don't always know the score). All his games are over for the season, but can't wait for them all next semester!

San Fran Once Again!

I love San Francisco! My sister, Carrie, and her family moved there last year and I have been out to visit at least 4 times (including to get engaged last February)! We went out in the beginning of October for a dental school interview at University of California San Francisco (UCSF). David has already had four interviews and he has two more this week. I am so so proud of this boy and all of his hard work! But until we actually have to decide where we are going next year, we have enjoyed the traveling and I love the excuse to see my family!

On Saturday we drove up to Half Moon Bay for their pumpkin festival! It was a blast to walk around and see all the booths and decorations.

Here is the cute Toolson family. We just loved Ty's cute Tiger outfit!

Isn't this the cutest tiger you've ever seen?

Apparently this is one of the largest pumpkins in the world?

This ice cream was amazing! The pumpkin crumble bread and garlic french fries were also incredible. (I had no limits this weekend, or ever)

Cutest boys:

During the parade, they were throwing candy into the crowd and Ty caught a piece! It actually landed on David's head, but it was just so funny!

We love our nephew!

After the festival, we were driving down the coast and saw this lighthouse!
Looks like Oregon, right? Gorgeous.

We went to the beach at Santa Cruz for a few hours to enjoy the sun and beautiful weather.

This is one of my favorite pictures! David fell asleep and Ty crawled over to grab his hair and wake him up. Ty was so excited, just look at his cute smile:

We finished off the day with dinner at our new favorite restaurant.
Seriously though, the Rigatoni D and Spinach Artichoke dip are amazing.
On Monday while Andrew went to work and David went to his interview, Carrie, Ty and I played in the city. It was the most perfect day and we had a great time eating sourdough bread and Ghirardelli chocolates, finding student housing and exploring Golden Gate Park (where David and I got engaged) to see what it looked like in the daytime!

Thank you Carrie and Andrew for a perfect weekend! We love you!

Falling

It is now Autumn! This is my favorite time of the year and I love everything about it. I love my new pumpkin spice candle, fall decorations, unlimited amounts of candy corn and peanuts, and even more treats! Speaking of which, I made pumpkin chocolate chip muffins for breakfast this morning :)

I cannot wait for this.

As we said goodbye to summer, we welcomed the coming school year and the cooler weather. It was our last first day of school at Brigham Young University! Here we are (about a month late). Also, we set the timer and put it on the kitchen table, hence the terrible quality...

The first weekend after school started was Labor Day! David's great aunt passed away and they held the funeral that weekend up in Logan, Utah. Although it was sad she was gone, we loved the excuse to get together with family. David's parents flew out from Kansas and we all stayed up in Sandy, UT with all the other cousins. We had a great time hanging out, eating and playing Wolverine (a fun game we played hours of!) Here we are with David's family at the cemetery:

I just love this handsome man!

Last weekend, we went home to Kansas! We went out for David's first dental school interview at UMKC! He did so well and we are so excited for all the other ones too in the next couple of months. Unfortunately, I didn't take a single picture the whole weekend (typical). We had a fun and relaxing weekend with both of our families and even had a blast watching the BYU vs. Utah game, even though we lost.

Speaking of football, that game seems to consume a lot of our time lately. According to David, I know nothing about sports and he is trying really hard to teach me about it all and the teams. That means our TV is almost permanently stationed on ESPN. We have all sports passes to the BYU home games with some good friends and are having a great time. Here we are at a BYU football game:

David is playing on a flag football intramural league as well as a city tackle football league. This adds to the games to watch, and I love it. Here is David at his first tackle football game yesterday.
What a stud!

He was so happy to play!

We are loving life and especially excited for all the upcoming holidays. Happy Fall everyone!

So Long Sweet Summer...

This summer has flown by! Seriously, I am still shocked that we are already a week into school. I have been the world's worst blogger and this is my attempt to redeem myself. I apologize for how long this is, but there is so much to catch up on. So here's a glimpse of the rest of our summer:

The majority of my summer consisted of this:

This is Marriott's Mountainside Resort, where I interned for the last 4 months. I worked at the front desk with many fabulous people and learned so much!

We also did way fun things like hike:

We had cardboard boat races in the pool:

Went on bike rides around Park City:

And yes, even this!

We went on a day rafting trip (float) down the Weber River. It was so fun and they even let me row! It made me miss Moab...

We even found a Stand Up Paddleboard and it was super fun!

I missed it so much, that I made us go down when I got the next 2 days off. David had never been to Moab and I wanted to show him how amazing it is. I decided that I wanted to drive down that day, so we spontaneously packed our bags by night and bought a tent on our way out of town (on sale for $29.99- amazing!) Here is David so excited with our new tent:

We hiked Delicate Arch, a must in Moab:

That's us underneath!

He had a blast on the slickrock:

The two of us at Double Arch, my favorite in all of Arches National Park:

David and I climbed up Indian Ladder, which is a crack in the rock with old logs the whole way up. It always freaks me out, but it was fun to climb up. Here is my cute husband:

Our last stop of the day was at Left Hand. We hiked up to this water hole where you can cliff jump into the water.  My friend Mickell, who I worked with in Moab last summer came with us, but I forgot to get a picture with her (Sorry Mickell!)

Here is David doing a flip into the water:

We had such a great time in Moab, although it was super quick and less than 24-hours! We will definitely be back so I can show David the river!

Next stop: Vegas!

I finished up my internship at Park City and went down to spend a week with David in Las Vegas. He worked as a Japanese translator for a company called Miki Prune. It was a great opportunity and we loved the excuse to hang out in the summer heat. We stayed with my Aunt Lisa and Uncle Rich, who were so kind to open up their beautiful home to us and we had a blast with them!

Here we are at Caesar's Palace:

We went to dinner at Max Brenner, which has amazing macaroni and cheese! (For those of you who don't know me...this is one of my favorite meals!) Apparently they are famous for their chocolate desserts, but we were too full to order any.

We went out another night for dessert at Serendipity (based off the one in New York) and had this healthy, deep-friend oreo sundae. It was delicious!

Venetian! David thinks this means we don't have to travel to Italy anymore...haha

Enjoying a night on the strip:

David worked at Aria, which is a beautiful hotel on the strip. I loved it because he had tons of room keys that I could use to get into the pool! Needless to say, I spent many afternoons by this:

And we finally got a little sun!

I told you it would be long! Hope you enjoyed this tiny glimpse of our summer. We had a great one and are already excited for plans next summer! Have a great school year everyone!
